Going through my photo folders last night I saw that for some reason I have a lot of photos of women in hats.
I'm not a hat person, but when conditions dictate, I'll wear one. A knit one for cold weather, a headband for 'not so' cold weather, and a baseball cap (Life is Good) in the summer. My hair is really thick, so wearing something on top of it makes me way too warm. So if I can get away without a hat, that's great.
These women in the photos surely LOVE hats! And the bigger and stranger the better. For ages, women weren't 'dressed' without one. And then you had to have the outfit to compliment your bonnet! Such slaves to fashion our ancestors were.
Hats, back in the day, could have so many names: chapeau, bucket, bonnet, headgear, lid, topper, and cap. Or you could be Carmen Miranda and wear fruit quite successfully! Whatever worked!
I loved the bowler that Diane Keaton wore in Annie Hall. She looked so funky and gave the fashion world a whole new avenue. A bowler on me would look ridiculous, so I bow to those who have taken the chance to be different and get away with it!
Do you wear hats? What are your thoughts on them? Or are you like me and go without?
Today I'll wear my favorite (not so clean) baseball cap while out for a run. Only because it keeps the sun out of my eyes and my hair out of my face! Practical me!

My Grandma Goldie wore hats often and well. I don't. I used to have such short hair that it didn't look good. When I wear hats I get headaches and oddly cannot walk straight. (Don't even ask! I know not why...) Daughter wears cute hats well. I think women with red hair look great in hats for some reason. Husband has 100s of baseball caps and doesn't wear 'em much any more.
I don't do hats. In fact, years ago when I coached t-ball, the kids on my team said "Coach Tammy, you look funny with a hat." So that was the end of my baseball cap wearing days. :) We've had rainy weather all day long. Hope you are having a great day. Tammy
I don't wear hats. I think it's due to the horrible Easter bonnets Mom made me wear. They had that awful elastic string that went under the chin.
I do remember mt Grandmothers hats, she had many and wore them often.
Hugs
I wear knit caps to stay warm in winter, but I don't feel like I can see when I wear a baseball cap. I try to protect myself from the sun during the summer on the three days per year when the sun shines here. But that isn't a big deal. Dressy hats, never. Good Guy loves hats though and buys them whenever we travel somewhere. (He never gambles, smokes, or carouses. It's just a tiny vice.)
Lovely collection of hat ladies...I am not a hat person either except for sometimes as shade from the hot sun :)

Love the pictures of the ladies in hats. I only wear hats on those occasions when I want to be funky! Love thoe dirty, rustic, straw cowboys hats, too.
