This is the result of that book:
PETALS in COLOR.
Those beige petals in the bottom left corner were the beginning of photo-play. I scattered them on my copier and scanned them. Aren't they fun? I think they are to be used in a vase to hold artificial flowers.
By sending that image to Photoshop, I was able to add different filters to obtain a completely different look to each photo. I used tints, reverse color, inverted, posterized, and even painted the leaves different colors. There is a soft filter on the pink image and I used a focal point on the gold one.
Yesterday I spent most of the day playing with the petals. THEN, I had an idea to use a different image to do similar techniques. Of course, I was awake until midnight thinking about that! This morning I got down to business and created a whole new collage with trucks. I'll post that soon.....
All this in in preparation for a class that I am taking at Art & Soul in March. There are 3 classes on my agenda, but the photography class has got my head spinning with ideas! CATHERINE ANDERSON is the instructor and has written a wonderfully informative book called THE CREATIVE PHOTOGRAPHER and I've been devouring her techniques and ideas since I bought it. She's quite inspirational.
Today? Well, the wind is blowing (yet again) so running outside is not going to happen. Looks like the gym and the treadmill with my I-Pod singing in my ears! And no doubt thinking about photo manipulations.
Yep, I'm obsessed. But at least it's not fattening!

I don't understand me no filters. But my aunt's name was Catherine Anderson. (She's passed on now--sorry if that's creepy.) Lola and I are going for a walk about.
Stunning images you have created Jan!
Wow! I am so impressed! I love color, and so your images are very inspiring to me.
I know what you mean about the swirl of creative thoughts that keep one awake at night. If only I had half a dozen pair of arms I could get some of it made : )
Hugs,
Terri
At first I thought you were making a quilt. Ha! I've never played with any digital stuff or filtering of photos. :/ I can imagine you could get lost in the process for hours on end. I tossed and turned last night too. Even started writing a book in my head and had a title for it and everything. I'm no author! What the heck was I thinking? I wouldn't be able to get beyond the first paragraph. But my mind just seemed to be all over the place. Your Art and Soul retreat is gonna be fun, fun, fun. I actually signed up for the Art and Soul newsletter, or was it the website? Hmmm, not sure. It's bedtime here. G'nite! Tammy
Jan you are one artistic lady! I love all the pretty colors! Such a nice selection!
Egads. Now I'm seeing petals before my eyes!
This is inspirational!
